Description:The specific objectives of this project were to explore the direct and indirect contributions of energy/electricity conservation policies, such as Energy Star, to alleviate the "urban heat island" effect and to mitigate the impact of environmental contaminants and pollutants resulting from energy use in New York City; and identify and examine selected strategic locales within New York City, such as the Lower Manhattan reconstruction area that offer opportunities for electricity load management strategies and energy conservation programs and policies.
