  • Greening Schools is a joint effort of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and the Illinois Waste Management and Research Center (WMRC). The purpose of the project is to help schools provide a safe and healthy environment that can save money, improve learning conditions, and increase efficiency. The project is also designed to provide teachers with standards-based tools to introduce the concepts of waste reduction and pollution prevention to students. Greening Schools offers workshops that address chemical management issues witin schools, including pesticides. The project Web site provides an extensive list of resources for both school administrators and teachers.

NOTE: Because this is an interagency project, and not a separate organization on its own, you must view the contact information for individuals associated with this program within the contacts database records for the agencies they work for. Contact Carol Knepp, WMRC, for more information on the Greening Schools project.
