Profile:
- Formed in 1987 as one of Ohio’s Thomas Edison Program seven technology centers, EISC was originally conceived as a resource for manufacturers to enhance their global competitiveness by improving quality, productivity and profitability. Indeed, in fiscal year 2000, we helped nearly 600 companies in such sectors as automotive, glass, plastics and food processing to advance their technical competency and market strength. From 1995 through 2000, the companies that we worked with enjoyed approximately $22.5 million in cost savings and increased sales of more than $51 million. During that same period, EISC helped to create or retain more than 800 jobs in northwest Ohio.
EISC also is an affiliate of the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) network, made up of more than 400 outreach centers located in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Through this network, small to medium-sized companies have access to more than 2000 business coaches and manufacturing specialists.
