  • The Great Lakes Center for Children's Environmental Health is a joint project between Cook County Hopsital and UIC School of Public Health. It is one of eight centers across the country dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of pediatric environmental health issues among health care providers as well as the general public. It offers Grand Rounds and other lectures for hospital staff, maintains a developing website and provides telephone consultation to parents who may suspect an environmental etiology to their child's health problems. It also has a weekly clinic to see those kids whose condition warrants specialty care. The faculty are toxicologists, pediatricians and occupational/environmental medicine doctors and nurses, with Daniel Hryhorczzuk, MD as the center director. It is funded by ATSDR and EPA and the primary area of concern is EPA Region V.

GLRPPR is a member of the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange, a national network of regional information centers: NEWMOA (Northeast), WRRC (Southeast), GLRPPR (Great Lakes), ZeroWasteNet (Southwest), P2RIC (Plains), Peaks to Prairies (Mountain), WSPPN (Pacific Southwest), PPRC (Northwest).
